Labiaplasty Surgery in Mumbai

The term Labiaplasty denotes a surgical procedure that is done to reshape the Labia minora. A Labia minora is a part of women’s vagina and Labiaplasty is done to reduce the length of Labia minora. This is an advanced vagina rejuvenating surgery that is done to avoid the tugging and twisting problems of labia.

There is a wide range of reasons for which women choose to have Labiaplasty. The main problem is the tugging and twisting of labia especially during riding a bike or while having intercourse. It gives a painful sensation along with intolerable irritation and itching. Labiaplasty helps to reduce the length of labia minora to provide comfort or relief. It can also be done for cosmetic reasons.

Frequently Asking Questions

The main indication of Labiaplasty is to give comfort to a woman. Due to the increased length of labia minora, women suffer from a painful situation in different life events like during riding a bike or while having sex.

Moreover, women suffering from such issues also possess an asymmetrical pattern of their labia minora where one labia looks longer than the other one. In such cases, the labia minora due to its increased length, hang below the hair-bearing part of the labia majora.

How Labiaplasty can help in healing this problem? By Labiaplasty procedure the asymmetrical labia minora is operated which imparts symmetrical view meaning both the labia minora is brought into an equal length. This helps in preventing the unwanted tugging and twisting of labia minora.

Since Labiaplasty is a surgical method done in a very delicate part of the women’s body thus it requires a high level of safety measures. To avoid the pain, it is very important to choose the correct anaesthesia.

Labiaplasty is done either under local anaesthesia or Sedation or under the general anaesthesia depending upon the criticality of the surgery. Oral sedation are also given in some cases.

Once done with the application of anaesthesia, the trimming process starts. The trimming process of labia minora is the most common approach applied in Labiaplasty where the extra tissues are safely and gently removed from the edges and sewn up directly.

And the other approach is by the wedging process were is a pie-shaped piece of tissue is removed to impart the symmetrical look. This helps to maintain a natural-looking border at the operated area.

Certain risks are associated with Labiaplasty and these include hematoma, bleeding, and infection. These are the common risks that may happen to almost any kind of surgery. Apart from these, the most found complication of Labiaplasty is over-resection. Some women desire to have quite an aggressive reduction but that sometimes ends up with a chronic dryness or may cause scarring especially at the vaginal opening. It may impart a painful sensation during intercourse.

Since the labia gets operated and reshaped after the Labiaplasty surgery, the labia minor no longer hangs down at the hair-bearing labia majora area. So, it avoids any twist or tugging.

Soon after your Labiaplasty, you may experience swelling and painful sensation at the vaginal area. To deal with this problem a patient is advised to apply ice at the operated area. A cold pack is placed between the elastic garment and the underpants. This is advised to be done at regular intervals of every twenty minutes interval.

Another way to deal with the swelling is lying down on a bed by placing your bottom in an elevated position. Swelling usually goes off maximum within 6 weeks after the surgery. There may be some residual swelling which may take up to 6 months to completely disappear.

Patients are also recommended to wear tampons.

Have intercourse after at least 4-6 weeks from the date of surgery.

Since the labia gets operated and reshaped after the Labiaplasty surgery, the labia minor no longer hangs down at the hair-bearing labia majora area. So, it avoids any twist or tugging.
